We are very pleased to announce a three-part webinar series dedicated to shorebird identification. Joining the other bird identification webinars from the Education program at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, this series is designed to help tackle the tangle of distinguishing sandpipers, plovers, and other scurrying birds of the beaches and mud flats. The first webinar in the series introduces the diversity of shorebirds and focuses on learning identification tips and techniques for these challenging birds. The next two webinars are more detail-oriented and take a closer look at specific species to point out their key characteristics. Each of these one-hour webinars consists of a live presentation using photographs, videos, sounds, and audience feedback, and is followed by a question and answer period where Dr. Kevin McGowan will address some queries from the audience.

The cost for each one-hour webinar is $10, register today! Here is the schedule:

Shorebird ID 1 – How to Get Started. August 16, Noon and 3:00 p.m. EDT
Shorebird ID 2 – Introducing the Sandpipers. August 2 and August 23, Noon and 3:00 p.m. EDT
Shorebird ID 3 – Plovers and Others. August 9 and August 30, Noon and 3:00 p.m. EDT
