Slowly but surely, the eastern dogwood in Norfolk appears to be losing its battle with the fungus anthracnose.

The mortality rate for dogwood trees at monitoring sites in the local area are as high as 46%. The Ministry of Natural Resources acknowledged the fading of the dogwood last year when it added the tree to its list of endangered species in Ontario.
